Big Foot: Fact or Fantasy
Are they relic hominids from ages past that have somehow survived? Are they a genetic offshoot from Gigantopithecus blackii, an extremely large and powerful ape that once roamed the earth? Also known as the sasquatch, skunk ape and devil monkey in North America; the teh-ima, yeren and yeti in Asia; no matter what they are (or aren’t), tales of feral, oversized hominids have fueled speculation throughout the world for ages. Sightings abound, including right here in Michigan where indications of Bigfoot’s existence have turned up from Monroe County all the way up to Sault Ste Marie.
Join us on Saturday, October 21, when our guest speaker will be Bob Daigle, head of the Michigan Sasquatch Studies Group, which offers a place for Michiganders to share their personal experiences, sightings or theories about the elusive creature. Daigle says he’s seen enough evidence that “leaves no doubt in my mind about the existence of the Bigfoot family.” In his address he will discuss his personal investigations and evidence, including DNA, that supports his beliefs. He will also cover the nature of Bigfoot (man, beast or ?) and problems with public agencies acknowledging it’s existence.
Whether or not it really exists, Bigfoot’s legend is widespread and it undeniably holds a special place in American folklore. Come and hear the evidence and then decide for yourself. (You won’t want to myth this one!)
