Monthly Gathering—July 2005

Just a Matter of Faith?

by Harley Berger, vice president

Christianity, from its earliest days, has played an integral part in shaping western civilization. Consider its impact on the Roman Empire, the Crusades, the exploration of the new world and the conversion (some would say conquest) of its native peoples. From its beginnings two millennia ago through the present, the church has been a major influence in the course of history and the lives of countless millions. Let’s face it, regardless of your personal religious beliefs, the history of Christianity has in one way or another impacted every one of us.

Join us on Sat, July 16, when our guest speaker will be Father Francisco Radecki of St Joseph’s Church in Wayne. Radecki has recently co-authored, along with his identical twin brother Father Dominic Radecki Tumultuous Times, a highly researched and detailed history of the Catholic Church, from the first Ecumenical Council in the year 325 to the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II) in 1964.

Radecki will touch on many relevant topics including: Sources of the Scriptures and what was left out of the Bible and why; Popes and Antipopes; Councils and “Pseudo” Councils, and other critical events in the history of the church.
