The Forgotten Victims An Eyewitness Account of Non-Jews in the Holocaust
We’ve all heard of the Nazi atrocities committed against Jews during WWII, but approximately four million of those who died in the holocaust were not Jewish. Despite the staggering numbers involved, non-Jewish victims are seldom included as a significant part of the holocaust story. Marion Szczepanski was born and baptized a Roman Catholic in Zwollen, Poland in 1920. He was arrested in September 1940 and sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp in a cattle car. His crime was simply being Polish. Despite the countless inhuman acts he witnessed and suffered, Szczepanski claims to owe his life to hardheadedness and to his refusal, time and again, to die at the hands of the Nazis.
