General Testing Information

  • Testing is available for people 14 and older.
  • For information about testing options for those younger than 14, visit the US Mensa Web site or call 1-800-66MENSA.
  • If you think you may qualify based on past test scores, visit the US Mensa Web site.
  • Testing usually takes less than two hours.
  • Regular testing sessions are held the second Saturday of every month (except October and December) in Plymouth.
  • Individually scheduled testing sessions can be requested in Ann Arbor, Flint, Grosse Pointe, Plymouth, Southfield, Sterling Heights and Downriver.

Testing Options

  • Mensa Home Test -- Your score on this test will not qualify you for Mensa membership. However, it may help you decide whether you want to take the Mensa Admissions Test.
  • Mensa Admissions Test
    o     Second Saturday sessions:
           SEMM offers testing the second Saturday of every month except October and December. 
    o     Individually scheduled sessions:

           If you can't attend the next monthly testing session, please check that option on your
           application to request an appointment.
  • Culture Fair Mensa Admissions Test
    We offer a test for those with reading disabilities or whose native language is not English. This test is available only at the Sterling Heights site. If you prefer this test, please check the third option on the application.

How to Register

  1. Print this page ==> SEMM Testing Application.
  2. Fill it out.
  3. Attach a check (in US funds):
      Home Test fees are payable to
    Southeast Michigan Mensa
      Admission Test fees are payable to American Mensa, Ltd.
  4. Mail the check and form to:
    Pauline Averbach

    Wyandotte, MI 48192

You will receive your confirmation and location information by phone or email.

Test Day Information

  • Arrive on time for check-in. 
  • Please bring picture identification. 
  • Testing will begin promptly at the scheduled time.
  • No walk-ins or observers are allowed during testing.
