Project Inkslinger was founded in 1993, when the Mississippi and its
tributaries flooded parts of the Midwest and South. Several schools and
libraries in Kansas and Iowa, for example, lost their entire collections
to water damage. Mensans across the country worked together to gather
books to replenish those collections in need.
Since then, the project has been expanded to encourage local Mensa groups
to provide books and other reading material to any local public or school
library in need as well as supporting tutoring programs and specialized
programs. Donated books bear the Project Inkslinger bookplate with
Mensa logo.
If you are interested in helping get books to people who need them,
consider becoming SEMM's Project Inkslinger/Literacy Coordinator.
